Resilience Gone Wild Works

Nature has been solving the toughest challenges for millions of years. It's time to learn from her.

Step 1
Nature's Wisdom

Each lesson begins with a captivating story drawn from the science of the natural world. Wonder and curiosity awaken, opening the mind, deepening connection, and making everything that follows memorable.

Step 2
A Resilience Tool Built for You

Each nature story holds a solution to a real human challenge. When you see it, something shifts — and what felt hard suddenly feels possible.

Step 3
Practices That Transform

Each practice leaves you with a powerful, memorable tool rooted in nature's science. Ready whenever that challenge arises, and building your resilience each time you use it.

Resilience Gone Wild in Action

Every night, parrotfish make an important decision: to build their sleep bubble, or not.

As her reef quiets and the light fades, if she senses potential threats and hasn't found a spot where she feels safe, she secretes a protective mucus cocoon, her sleep bubble, so she can sleep peacefully and wake up refreshed. She is not guided by simple instinct. She makes the significant effort only after deciding she needs the extra protection.

That intentional choice, backed by a clear and compelling reason, is our lesson. It's the shift from "I have to" to "I want to." From obligation to agency. And that shift changes everything: energy, commitment, and results.

This is where Resilience Gone Wild comes to life. Our lesson becomes a resilience tool built around a real human challenge. In this case, the challenge is finding motivation for things that are uncomfortable, exhausting, hard, or draining — the things that feel like obligations rather than choices.

And that tool is brought to life through proven practices you can use today, whether you're navigating your own motivation or leading a team that would benefit from doing the same.

I seek out science-based stories from nature and continue to discover and share new resilience lessons in my podcast episodes and blogs, keynotes, workshops, and teachings. And there's always more on the way.

Meet Jessica

I'm a resilience strategist and trainer, speaker, educator, and nature protector. My career centers on the intersection of how people, organizations, and systems thrive. My path winds through corporate consulting, nonprofit leadership, positive psychology, and a sea turtle encounter on a Florida beach that changed everything. I hold an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a master's from Harvard, and certifications in resilience, positive psychology, and core energy and systemic team coaching. I'm also a published author, with my chapter "The Wild Wisdom of Sleep" appearing in How We Flourish.

My work is driven by a simple belief in the WinWinWin Mindset: the best decisions are good for you, good for those around you, and good for the wild world we all share.

  • A Different Kind of Podcast.  Resilience Gone Wild is one podcast that may, indeed, have something for everyone. Jessica Morgenthal’s well-researched and entertaining dives into the natural world, typically in the company of experts in their fields, reminds me of that favorite teacher who made science come alive. She focuses on the unique resilience mechanisms of species other than our own, providing examples that are extraordinary and often breathtaking. This focus, in and of itself, could be a three0credit course. The substantial icing on the cake, however, is that Jessica gently offers how we might learn, and what we might do – physically, psychologically, and spiritually, to attain a similar resilience in our own lives. Jessica’s respect for nature is exceeded only by her respect for human capability. You simply do not leave these podcasts without feeling a bit more informed, a bit more energized, a bit more hopeful for the world.
  • This is a breath of fresh air and not just because it’s about nature. It’s the kind of podcast that makes you pause, listen deeply, and remember why the wild matters. What I love most is the way it blends science and storytelling, turning every episode into an emotional journey rather than just a lecture. It’s innovative, heartfelt, and filled with moments that make you both think and feel. Listening feels like having a conversation with nature itself… sometimes gentle, sometimes fierce, but always inspiring. It’s a reminder that resilience isn’t just a human trait, it’s woven into the forests, rivers and creatures we share this planet with. This podcast doesn’t just talk about nature; it helps you reconnect with it. I’m proud of what my friend is creating here, and believe it will inspire many to see the natural world with new eyes.
